The Holy “Ghost”

Today at the breakfast table I was talking to Lincoln about the First Vision, when Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. Afterward, Link asked me “Where’d Jesus go?” I tried to explain to him that Jesus was in heaven with Heavenly Father and that the Holy Ghost is here with us now. Well, he got a little hung up of the word “ghost.” He was uneasy when I told him the Holy Ghost is always with us.

Then tonight when I was rocking him to sleep he nervously kept asking about the Holy Ghost. Again, seeing that my earlier efforts didn’t set his mind at ease, I tried to explain that the Holy Ghost is nice and that we can’t see him but we feel him in our heart when we are happy.

When I laid him down to sleep he asked, “Holy Ghost in my tummy?” (meaning his heart). Then he asked where Daddy went (to a Church meeting) and if the Holy Ghost went with him. I told him I sure hope so!

Wheat Bread

I don’t know what’s come over me lately. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have the opportunity to nest while I was pregnant, but lately I’ve had this powerful urge to get our home in order. I’ve posted about some of my decorating endeavors. Emergency preparedness has been on my mind lately, especially after the fire. And I’ve been buying food and water storage like a mad woman.

Anyhoo, this week I made bread. Really good bread. I got the recipe at a from a lady who did a presentation for our Relief Society. I’m telling you people, this bread is awesome! When I tried a piece, I knew I had to get the recipe. It’s light, chewy and peanut-butter-sandwich worthy. Not like the wheat bread bricks I’ve eaten before.

So I thought I’d spread the love. I’d give ya a loaf if I could, but sharing the recipe will just have to do I guess. If you’re not into grinding your own wheat, remember you can buy wheat flour! The first batch I made was with store-bought white wheat flour. I’ve also tried red wheat, but we prefer the white wheat. Both work with this recipe, but we liked the taste and texture better of the white wheat.

Claire’s Blessing

Claire, you are so beautiful! Not just because of your perfect lips, bright eyes, and cute little nose. You melt our hearts with your energetic smile and inviting gazes. Everyone comments on how beautiful you are. Just today, a stranger approached me just to tell me how cute you are—a common occurrence. You have forever changed our family for the better. We are so blessed that God chose to send you to us. We are trying to live up to the honor it is to be your parents. We love you more and more each day, and look forward to getting to know your sweet soul.

blessing-5

We blessed our little Claire Michelle Pomeroy yesterday. Miles did a wonderful job blessing her. She was perfectly content before and after, but cried during the blessing. I couldn’t help but smile when Miles blessed her with a “kind and happy disposition.”

Both of our families were in town for the event. Miles’ family drove all the way from Mesa, AZ and stayed with us for three nights. My family got a hotel nearby. We had so much fun with both families. On Saturday we took the Trax to Temple Square. It was a bit of a challenge herding our big crowd around, but it was great just being together. My favorite time was spent just hanging out and chatting with everybody. It’s awesome that our families get along so well! It’s too bad it only happens every few years.

We feel so blessed to have so much love and support!

He hears all prayers, even the simple ones

I had a simple prayer answered today. During the third hour of church I meet with the Young Women, the teenage girls in our ward. Today we had to do a bit of scrambling as we only had three of our own girls and a handful of visitors. One of the leaders had planned to show a video on her laptop to her small group of girls but because we decided to combine everyone, we needed a larger screen. I was given the role of A/V technician.

We didn’t have much time to set things up beforehand so I was a bit nervous we’d have technical difficulties. It’s inevitable, right? So as I was sitting listening to Sister Getz begin her lesson I said a simple, silent prayer. “Father in Heaven, please help me figure out how to get the DVD player to work so that thy Spirit will not be disrupted.”

My prayer was answered. While setting up the system, there were complications, but my mind was able to work through them. The DVD worked and the Spirit was unrestrained. I am grateful the Lord hears all of our prayers, even the simple ones.
