Unexpected

bid boy

Lincoln is now sleeping in a big boy bed. It hasn’t been the easiest transition, but we’ll save those issues for another post. Each night, we usually have to put Link back in his bed a handful of times. A few nights ago was no different. Finally, after round number four of tucking him in, we didn’t hear him again.

Later that night, Miles and I went upstairs to get ready for bed. While walking up the stairs, we heard the whirring of Claire’s swing. I said something to Miles like, “sounds like Link turned on the swing again—wasting the batteries.” It was dark as we entered our room. My heart jumped when I looked over at the swing and thought I saw Claire there. But that couldn’t be right because we put Claire to sleep in her bed. My next thought was “did Lincoln put Claire in the swing?” Oh, yeah right, she’s as big as he is.

Then we finally realized that it was Link in the swing—sleeping! He must have snuck in without us knowing and fallen asleep while relaxing and swinging away. We couldn’t believe it. I mean, this is a kid who has never fallen asleep watching a movie or at the dinner table. He even fights sleeping in the car. When we found him, the swing wasn’t swinging because he’s much too big for it and his feet drag on the ground. We were completely surprised! It was hilarious! I really wanted to take a picture but didn’t out of fear of waking him and enduring a few more rounds of tucking him in.

Poo-Poo Incident

Today was a good Sunday. Except for one incident. The poo-poo incident. After listening to stake conference for the first of two hours, Claire did a doo-doo in my lap. And by that I mean she left a puddle in my lap. Yeah, gross I know. I should have packed an extra change of clothes for me too I guess. To deal with this crisis, I laid a clean diaper in my lap to soak up as much as possible. We packed up the kids, and we left with me holding the diaper up to my dress. We walked home (the Stake Center is right across the street) and Claire and I both changed.

Is it just me, or does anyone else ever blog about poop?

The day got much better after that. Claire has recently been falling asleep on her own (with minimal amounts of crying) and took two long naps this afternoon. On the other hand, Link—our forever combative sleeper—has been resisting naps again lately. But today was a miraculous day. He napped for over 4 hours! I napped too while Miles worked on a project, then he napped while I read more Mockingjay. I had dinner ready before Miles and Lincoln even woke up. Glorious. Glorious Sunday. Despite being pooped on.

Birthday Slideshow

Miles here. As a video birthday card for Michelle, I put together the above slideshow of pictures gathered from the past five years we have spent together. She celebrated her 25th birthday on Friday. She makes each and every day of my life happy. iPhone Version

Streaker

While I was in the kitchen preparing dinner this afternoon, I heard Link rustling around in the next room. I looked just as Link came around the corner, naked. He had taken his diaper off all by himself! It cracked me up. I tried really hard to supress my reaction, however. I didnt want to reinforce this behavior :) I then asked him where his diaper was. He went into the family room and fetched it. Luckily it was only slightly wet.
